With social/family/grade problems going on, it felt like the only thing good this week has been the 47/50 midterm score for psych 1.. so I had to post my list I've been collecting for a few years now of the little things in life that make me happy.

1. The feel of semi-damp, cool soft green grass under your bare feet on a pleasantly warm day playing volleyball or badminton or just lounging around

2. Roses or morning glories in bloom

3. The ocean waves crashing hard, loudly, and big against a rocky shoreline in the middle of winter with no people around and the smell of the ocean cool and salty in your nose

4. The smell of the bamboo that makes up your shinai that you associate with training, hard work, and a peaceful, orderly way of life

5. The pink and white of trees blooming in spring that kill your sinuses

6. The sound and smell of a rainstorm in the middle of summer that comes and goes in the blink of an eye

7. The smell of wet dirt from a warm rainshower

8. The smell of a dog in the rain

9. The liberating day after finals when you can finally relax

10. The first week of school, seeing who is in your classes and who you run into on your way to class

11. Sitting at the corner of a busy bike circle, watching people as they go by on bike, foot, or other device, wondering where they came from, where they are going, and what their day was/is like

12. Same as above but at either a train station or airport

13. The smell of old clean paper in a large library

14. The softness and coziness of your bed at 6:30am when you don’t want to get up yet and don’t have to for another five minutes

15. The sound of the aggie marching band-uh on picnic day or at a basketball game that fills you with pride for your school even if the team sucks

16. The happily-ever-after ending that was so unexpected

17. The feel of a much needed hug after a horrible day, and knowing that you have friends that care about you

18. Three oranges, a pineapple, and a piece of birthday cake

19. Walking for hours on end to no place in particular for no reason at all but to enjoy the surroundings and explore

20. The bubbling babble of a stream on a cool summer day

21. Meeting random people who become insta-friends and learning that they know your friends already from other things

22. Random encounters with friends you haven’t seen in a while on campus

23. The motivational poster in Kemper csif with the word Perseverance on it

24. The star pictures down in Kemper

25. Remembering that there is a new xkcd or other comic/manga to look at for the day/week

26. The feeling you get when you just before you complete a puzzle

27. The feeling you get at the tail end of a good book

28. Balling your eyes out in kemper and having three or four people make you feel better on the spot

29. The light sound of rain on a night when you can’t sleep

30. The start of a new quarter and a new chance to do better

31. Just holding the one you love and knowing you don’t ever have to second guess their love for you

32. Giving a gift at Christmas involving spending time with others, and receiving the same thing

33. Seeing my dog after not having seen him for so long

34. Making new friends from coworkers

35. Running over the plastic lane markers on a newly paved and unpainted road with your bike

36. Completing algebra problems on whiteboard

37. The colors of fall

38. Knowing that with everything changing your stuffed animals remain the same
